Help Needed
 
LWV Sonoma Has Several Important Roles to Fill
LWV has always been a grassroots activist organization, but now more than ever we need your help in defending our democracy.  
 
Don't be shy!  If you can help you are wanted.  And there are experienced members around to help you in new roles.
 
Right now we particularly need the following:
  • Treasurer:  Keep the books, pay bills, etc.  For more information, Contact treasurer@lwvsonoma.org
  • Membership Chair: Help to involve new members, encourage broader membership participation, and retention.  Contact  membership@lwvsonoma.org
  • What's Up Editor:  Put together a semi-monthly emailing of activities and actions needed, based on our calendar and board input.  Contact communications@lwvsonoma.org

Lunch with the Grand Jury

The civil Grand Jury has finished their reports for the 2024-25 year and now we want to celebrate their hard work. These are ordinary citizens who investigate citizen complaints about city & county agencies. They are our watchdogs to ensure that government agencies are doing their job for the people they serve. They do not make policies but they investigate that policies are carried out  Learn about their work & ask questions about this years reports. Be inspired to become a member of the next Grand Jury. There is a $35 charge for the luncheon.

What is Advocacy?

Attention all LWV members!  What is advocacy?  How does the LWV do it?  What can you do?   Zoom in Wednesday September 3rd at 10:00 am for a 30 minute overview.  If you want, you can stay for the regular monthly advocacy meeting that starts at 10:30.
 
Youth Outreach
 
August 18, 10:30-Noon
 

The school year is about to begin, and we welcome new and old members to join us in any of a variety of capacities, some with no knowledge or experience requirements. Sonoma County’s high school and college students appreciate our enthusiasm and support as they prepare to become voters.

We want to hold several tabling events from September 14th- 20th throughout the County. If you’re interested in helping out contact elections@lwvsonoma.org.  It’s a two-hour commitment to engage with the public and register voters.

The recent federal tax law that just passed and the many executive orders from the White House have already begun to have an impact locally. David McCuan will talk about what he describes as  "vigilant" guideposts to watch for. Please join us and invite your friends and family.
