The most basic of human rights are covered by the First Amendment.  In fact, the Supreme Court has consistently held that constitutional rights like freedom of speech, religion, and assembly apply to all people within the territory of the United States, regardless of their citizenship or immigration.  And yet, the First Amendment is being challenged every day.

A panel of Sonoma County leaders will discuss the impact of the First Amendment on Sonoma County today and in the future. You’ll hear legal, local government, public library and public media perspectives.  Bring your questions and join us!

Coined by civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis, "Good Trouble" is the act of coming togther to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice.  The power of collective non-violent action resulted in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and we must maintain that same collective action to fight for voting rights today.  This is a non-partisan event.

Urge Governor Newsom to use his executive authority now to grant universal clemency to all with death sentences.
 

Oppose USPS Proposed Mail-In and
Absentee Ballot Regulations

Prior to end of day 7/2/2026
The United States Postal Service (“USPS”) issued a new rule on 06/02/2026 that would establish elements of national standards for absentee and mail-in ballots in federal elections. These new proposed rules will create unnecessary barriers that prevent eligible voters from receiving and returning their mail-in and absentee ballots in time to be counted.
